I am an avid reader, and have been as long as I can remember. My preference is for a good murder mystery or thriller. I was brought up on some classic crime writers – Agatha Christie, Dorothy L Sayers, Josephine Tey, Margery Allingham, Ed McBain – thanks to my father. My more contemporary favourites would be Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell, Michael Connelly, PD James, Jonathan Kellerman, David Hewson, Peter James, and I could go on, and on, and on.
I am happy to read other genres – historical fiction (think Bernard Cornwell, Colin Iggulden), horror (Stephen King, James Herbert) and other favourite authors would include Anita Shreve, Joanne Harris, Sebastian Faulks and John Jakes.
I read very little non-fiction, struggle with sci-fi and am not keen on “chick lit” but if I’m honest then given a book of any kind I will happily give it a go. Above all I read books for my pleasure.

Hi, just found your blog via a Twitter re-tweet! If you have a moment please take a look at my debut thriller ‘Milkshake’ available as an ebook from Amazon and Smashwords. I’m a British-born writer living in New Zealand, where the book has already attracted the attention of the Ngaio Award for best Crime Novel. Let me know what you think? Thanks. Matt
Thanks for the offer Matt, but I’m afraid I’m a print only gal. Good luck with the books – I’ll watch out for your name 🙂
